RATIONS FOR ENGLAND
WHOLE NATION TO BE GOVERNED
MEAT SYSTEM BEGINS NEXT MONTH. (Received January 26, 2.30 p.m.} LONDON, 25th January. - Lord Bhondda, speaking at the Mansion House, announced that meat would be rationed on 25th. February. Compulsory rationing was inevitable and urgent, and. the whole country would shortly bo governed by rationing schemes, which would be developed into a national system. Ho proposed to provide a fixed fair share of meat, margarine, and tea for each, district, and to see that they were supplied according to their necessities. He proposed to start with a. level ration of meat for adults, and half that ration for children under six. There was no ground for suspicion that well-to-do people were getting more than the workers.
