The first case in Auckland under the war regulations relating to the employment of aliens on ships came before Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., on Monday, when Jorgan Nilson, a Norwegian^ was charged that on 4th January, being an alien, he worked on a British ship without having a license issued by a competent authority. Coincidental]}', Charles Neil, labour foreman for the U.S.S. Co., was charged that he permitted Nilson, an alien, to work on a, British ship without being licensed. Both men pleaded guilty. Nilson was fined 10s and costs and Neil 20s and costs.
