THE WEATHER
LIKELY TO REMAIN WARM AND CLOSE.
The warm and muggy weather which has ruled during 1 the last few days continues, and though the temperature, 69 deg., is not particularly high, the absence of a breeze has made to-day unpleasantly close. A heavy fog hung over the Straits and extended through tho Heads along the eastern shore of the harbour for the greater part of the morning, and consequently shipping was somewhat delayed. The official report on the Dominion's weather for tho past twenty-four hours stated that dull and misty conditions had ruled generally, and ■warm and humid weather, had prevailed, with, scattered rainfall on the eastern coasts of both islands. The barometer is falling steadily in the South.
Tho forecast is Tor a continuance of the present warm and humid conditions generally, dull and misty with fog and scattered showers in parts. Easterly winds, moderate to strong, changing to tho north are probable, and the barometer lias a falling tendency. Though a change is likely, the indications are not ■ quite as threatening as they were, yesterday.
