THE MASTER OF TRINITY*

LONDON, 15th January. The Eev. Henry Montague Butler, Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, it dead.
[The late Dr. Butler, who was' over 81- years of age, was a son of Dr. George Butler, a former Headmaster of Harrow School. He was educated at Harrow, and at Trinity College, Cambridge, of which he became a Fellow in. 1855. After a distinguished university career and a short experience of political life as private secretary to the Bight Hon. W. F. Cowper, he was appointed Headmaster of Harrow in 1859, retaining that position until 1885, when he was appointed Dean of Gloucester. In the following year he was appointed Master of Trinity College. He was Select Preacher at Oxford and Cambridge for many yeans, and he published a number of historical, biographical, and devotional works.]
