BUTTER EXPORTERS
PLEDGE FAITHFULLY KEPT.
A statement made by. the Prime Minister in Parliament last night, to the effect that merchants Were profiting by every scare of the shortage of shipping and were buying butter cheaply, is denied by exporters; they interviewed Mr. Massey to-day, with reference to the above statement, and pointed out to him that, under arrangement with the Government in August last, the exporters pledged themselves to make no purchase of new season's butter, pending the final decision of the Government as to its disposal. This pledge, the exporters pointed out, has been faithfully adhereS to by' them.
