A LEADING ARTIST INTERNED,

The internment of M. .Laszlo.de Lombos, M.V.0., the Court painter, who hae resided for many years in England, ha* caused a sensation in society. [M. de Lombos, who was born at Budapest in 1869, studied! art in. the |' leading schools of Vienna and Paris. In 1899 he was awarded the Gold Medal at , the Paris Solon for his . portrait of ! Prince Hohenlohe, and in the following year gained a. similar distinction for his portrait of Pop© Leo XIII. These,, ,andl hie portraits of King Edward and Queen Alexandra,' the Kaiser, and exPresident Roosevelt, are among his bestknown works. M. de Lombos has had numerous honours and 1 decorations conferred upon him by European Sovereigns, among others, membership of the Victorian Order, which was conferred upon him in 1910.]
