SOCKS FOR SAILORS
Socks for sailors are being knitted by the girls attending Standard VI. of the Mount Cook School, A* a meeting of the School Committee last evening the. first assistant (Miss Holm) reported that the girls had subscribed and collected. £15 8s 3d, and with that ..money had purchased wool. Up to the present they had knitted 116 pairs of socks, and these had been forwarded to the Isailors'serving on one of His Majesty's ships. The girls are working to reach a total of 130 pairs by the end of the year. A letter was sent with each pair, and the girls were expecting to have replies soon.
