WAR LOAN
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l think the Government should' give some direction to those who have' moderate amounts deposited in the Government Savings Bank as to whether 6uch depositors should withdraw what they can spare and purchase war certificates. Last year I withdrew a certain sum from the Savings Bank and invested it in war certificates, but subsequently I read in an Knglish paper that the Home Government advised people there to leave their money in the Savings Bank. The difference in interest "to a small investor' is really nothing, and it seems to me therefore that, while wishing to help, the country would in such cases really gain nothing, as the clerical work involved and paper used for certificates would practically be waste at a time when the Post Office staff and stocks of paper are limited. Will some member of the Hou;se bring this question forward for decision?—l am, etc.,
