AMSTERDAM, 16th August. A Germar semi-official message declares that nothing is known of the circumstances of the sinking of the Belgian Prince, as the submarine, concern' ed has not yet returned.

[Details of the; crime were published in the following messaga on; Sth August:—A crimo of unparalleled ferocity has been revealed by the deliberate murder of thirty-eight members of the crew of the Belgian Prince. • Three survivors, after fearful sufferings, have landed. When two hundred miles from land on 31st July, the Belgian Prince saw a torpedo approaching. It struck the vessel and exploded. The vessel had a heavy list. As the crew took to the boats the submarine approached, destroyed the wireless installation by shellfire, and ordered, the boats ■ alongside. Captain Hassan w.is taken into the submarine, and 41 others were mustered on the submarine's deck. The Germans took the life-belts from all except eight, and the outer clothing from all. They also smashed the boat with axes. They took the oars below. The submarine's hatches were then closed, leaving the crow 'of the torpedoed ship on deck. When the submarine had gone two miles a cry was raised, "She 1 is sinking!" Many of the men jumped overboard ; others were immediately drowned as- the submarine was submerged.]
