MR. HENDERSON'S POSITION
CRITICISM OF THE PREMIER
SPEECH. IN THE HOUSE OF
COMMONS.
(ADSTRAUANNiW ZEALAND CAILI ASSOCIATION.) , (Becbived August 14, 3 p.m.) : LONDON,' 13th AugustMr. Arthur Henderson, speaking from the Labour Benches in the House of Commons, said he.intended to speak at length, owing to the unprecedented and dangerous press campaign concerning his position in the : Cabinet and his actions at the Labour Conference; It would be almost impossible to find any precedent, in the history, of Ministerial resignations, for the conduct of the Prime Minister and his colleagues during the week-end. He had received the first intimation of the acceptance of his resignation from the newspapers, though ho was still working in the office of the War Cabinet. Mr. Lloyd George, after'the decision of the Labour Conference, had said that his position as Assistant-Secretary of the Labour Party was incompatible with membership of the Cabinet. He chose the former. He only wished Mr. Lloyd Godrge had emulated the character and spirit of his letter of. resignation.
