MR. BROOME SMITH'S MISSION
A very successful lecturing campaign was concluded in Wellington last evening, when Mr. Broome P. Smith, F.R.G.S., gave a farewell address on his.work in Airica before a large audience in _S;t. Peter's Schoolroom. Soveral fresh slides were put on the' screen, which werenot shown in the suburbs. Mr. Smith graphically describes tho landing of slaves in Madagascar, and his rescue of a woman who had been brutally punished by the slave raiders. Eventually this woman was allowed to return to her home and country in. Central Africa, and quite unexpectedly met the lecturer, who had in former years worked as a niiesioner in Madagascar. Mr. Milne, of the Postal Department, worl&d the slides most efficiently with his own lantern. During the evening books were sold to the value of over £2. His Lordship Bishop Sprott, who presided, thanked tho lecturer for his most interesting address and pronounced tho Benediction..* Mr., Broomo Smith, has been the guesfc in Wellington of tho Rev. F.
