STRONG POSITIONS CAPTURED (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION AND REUTEE.) LONDON, 28th May. An Italian official report states : We have strengthened our positions on the Julian front, and captured strongly-fortified trenches south-east of Jamiana. We have crossed the Timavor River, and occupied San Giovanni, northwest of Duino. We captured nine 6in guns. We repulsed counter-attacks on Mount Vodice and the heights eastward of Gorizia. The New Zealand High Commissioner reports :— LONDON, 29th May, 5.30 p.m. An official report from Rome states : At Plava, tile enemy has been driven to the end of the valley, to the east of Globna, and we have taken 100 prisoners. In the Julian Alps, the captures since 14th May amount to 23,691 prisoners,'including 604 officers, 36 guns (including-13 heavy guns), 148 machine guns, 27 trench mortars, and a large quantity of other material. On the south-east slope of Mount Vodice we are overcoming the tenacious resistance; the enemy is hidden in caves. We have made important progress, and have established our positions. MUNITIONS FACTORY IN BOHEMIA DESTROYED (AtISTEALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) AMSTERDAM, 29th May._ A fire and explosion destroyed a munitions factory at Bolovce, Bohemia. There were numerous casualties. Sixteen dead bodies have been recovered, and fifty are still entombed in the wreckage.
