GOOD TEMPLARS ENTERTAINED
An entertainment to welcome the delegates to the conference of Good Templar Lodges was held in the Baptist Schoolroom, Vivian-rtreet, last evening. Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P., who presided,, expressed tbo pleasure it gave him to welcome the guests of the evening. He also spoke interestingly k* his experiences in England, where, he said, the question of State control was now being raised. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) also welcomed the delegates. He expressed his belief that the anti-shouting regulations had done a great deal of good. After Brigadier Bray, of the Salvation Army, and other had also spoken worda of welcome, Mr. T. H. Dalton, Grand Chief Templar, of Dunedin, responded. Musical items throughout contributed to the enjoyment of the evening.
