POTATO PRICES EASIER,

The New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Distributing Company reports that potatoes are coming to hand more freely, and prices are easier. The wheat market is uncertain, prices quoted in the South being generally equal to the rate fixed by the Government. Oats are much firmer in price, and supplies are short. Seed Algerians particularly are in good demand. Pollard and bran prices are firm. There is a good demand for dressed pork at recent rates. Eggs are very scarce, and the price has reached 2s per dozen this week. All poultry is in good demand at satisfactory prices. Supplies of choice green peas and French beans are short and in very good demand, high values being realised. There is an improved demand for choice cabbage. Only a few choice lines of cauliflower are offering, and these meet keen competition. Lettuce is in very good demand. There is fair enquiry for carrots, parsnips, and white turnips. Spring onions are selling well) and marrows are realising good prices. There is an improved demand for swedes since last report. Dessert and cooking apples are 1 plentiful, and prices show a marked decline. Dessert and cooking pears are also selling at low rates. Tomatoes are in fair supply and realising satisfactory prices. There is a good demand for greengages, nectarines, and plums. Grapes meet fair demand at recent prices.
