AMERICAN SHIPBUILDING RETURNS.
November, 1916, was the record month for American shipbuilding. American yards completed 90,636 gross tons, all officially numbered for tho American flag, except two steamers of 7847 gross tons for Norwegian owners. . The largest vessel of tho month was tho -s.s. Edward Lucke-n----bach, 8151 gross tons, built at Quincy, Mass., for Mr. Edgar F. Luckenhach, and
which.is now well known in Wellington. During tho month 39 vessels of 29,809 tons gross woro transferred from the American to foreign flags. Since Ist Jnly, 1916, returns show the sale of 87 American vessels of 106,689 gross tons to foreigners, of which 40,601 were sold to Norwegians; 19,689 to French, 11,276 to Japanese,
11,140 to Uruguayans, 7955 to Dutch, 7370 to British, 2357 to Nicaraguajis, 1393 to Spanish, 1083 to Cubans, 974 to Russians, 962 to Portuguese, 838 to Danish, 366 to Venezuelans, 232 to Dominicans, 222 to Mexicans, 203 to Costa Rica-ns, and 28 to other foreigners. "
