SHIPPING AT HONOLULU.
For the last half of 1916 there called at the port .of Honolulu a total of 296 vessels, steam and sail, according to figures compiled by Captain William E. Foster, harbourmaster. A decrease of 27 vessels from the number entering the pore, during the first half of the year is noted. For the six months just closed the total gross tonnage of steam vessels arriving afc the port was 1,669,617, against 2,003,070 for the last half of 1915. Sailing vessel tonnage for the six months just ended aggregated 35,214 tons, against 33,563 tons for the last half of 1915. Tho figures show a decrease in 6team tonnage, but a corresponding increase in tho number of sailing vessels to make the port. Arrivals for the month »of December totalled 42 steamers and 11 sailing vessels, against 39 steamers and ,11 sailing vessels for last December.
