LAND FOR SOLDIERS
The Wellington Land Board, at its meeting to-day, dealt with a number of applications for land by discharged soldiers.
The following applications, completed under section 4 of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act,. 1915, were approved :—Section 24, block IV., Kaftieke, 123 a2r 16p, E.L., Godfrey H. Hammond, annual rent £17 12s, firstclass land; section 25, block IV., Kaitieke S.D., 136 a2r 32p, R.L., Robert E. Grace, annual rent £19 4s, first-class land; section 22, block IV., Kaitieke S.D., 123 aOr 16p, 8.L., David Laing, annual Vent £20; first-class land; section 55, block Xi, Hunua S.D., 185 a2r 18p, R.L., E. W. Leeder, annual rent £26, first-class land; section 34, block 11., Hunua S.D., 287 a, 8.L., W. J. Branson, annual rent £32, first-class land ;'section 31, block 11./Hunua S.L>., 309 a, K.L., J. A. Montgomerie, annual rent £37 4s, first-class land ; section 1, Greystoke Settlement, 84a, lr 15p, 8.L., J. B. S. Dudding, annual rent and building ■ instalment £160 7s, first-class land; section 12, Greystoke Settlement, 69a lr 06p, R.L., Albert Hinton, annual rent and building instalment £118 4s, first-class land ; section 8, Greystoke Settlement, 73a. Or 27p, R.L., W. H. Sutton, annual rent and building instalment £136 Is, first-class land ; section 3, block XV., Betaruke S.D., 677 a, R.L., Andrew J. Peters, annual rent £40 12s, second-class land; section 5, block V., Whirinaki S.D., 1275 a, R.L., Albert Hogg and J. F. Nolan, annual rent £76 12s. second-class land.
The board also approved of the following provisional applications for land under section 4 of the same Act: — Section 7, Makowai Settlement, 69a Or 20p, R.L., H. V. Remnant; section 18, Makowai Settlement, 49a 3r 25p, J. R. Tonge ; section 23, Makowai Settlement, 44a 3r 29p, R.L.; John Carlyle; section 19, Makowai Settlement, 49a 3r 31p, R.L., W. V. Smith; section 12, Mafcowai -Settlement, 70a Or 20p, R.L., Ch'as. Imrie. . ■ .
Applications to surrender lands by discharged soldiers were approved as follows :—Section 2, block 11., Manganui, 684 acres, R.L., Albert E. Taylor and W. B. Page; section 12, Makowai Settlement, 70a Or 20p, 8.L., T. C. Tester,; section 6, . Fairfield Settlement, 130 acres, R-.L., E. T. Wiltshire.
