RED CROSS CARNIVAL AT CHRISTCHURCH
MOTOR SPORTS.

'CHEISTCHURCH, ■ 17th February. The Red Cross motor carnival, at which- the most prominent racing motor cyclist in England competed, attracted an attendance of about seven thousand at the Canterbury- Park Trotting Club's grounds. Following a-re the results :— Light Weight Handicap, eight miles. — J. Dawber (Palmerston North), 1; H. S. Osgood (Dannevirke), 2; E. F. Hinds (Christchnrch), 3. Time, Bmin 16£ sec.
Heavy Weather, ten miles. —L. Mangham (Shannon), 1; H. S. Jones (Christchurch), 2; H. P. Crawley (Palmerston 'North), 3. Time, lOmin lsec.
South Island Light Weight Championship, eight miles.— R. . J. Jones (Palmerston North), 1; J. Dawber (Palmerston North), 2; P. A. Foden (Timaru), 3. Great finish ;■ won by 15 yards. Time, 9m in 48 1-Ssec.
South Island Middle Weight Championship, te.n miles.—A. E. Woodman (Christchurch), 1: J. Dawber (Palmerston North), 2; E. F. Hinds (Christchurch), 3. Won by third of a mile. Time, 9min 54sec.
Open Handicap, eight miles.—E. 11. Hinds (Christchurch), 1; S. Mason (Dannevirke), 2; A. E. Jodamn (Christchurch), 3. Time, 7min 42sec.
Australian Heavy Weight Championship, fifteen miles.—L. Mangham (Shannon), 1; P. Coleman (Pahnerston North), 2; H. R. Crayvley (Carterton), 3. Won by nearly half a mile. Time, 14min 52sec.
North Island won the Relay Racewith R. Jones, Dawber, and Maugham. ■ Ladies' Bracelet, four miles.—Miss E. Kinds (Christchurch),' 1; Miss F. W. Beck (Tima-ru), 2; Miss C. A. Beck (Timaru), 3. Time, Bmin 20sec.
