LABOUR NOT ENGAGED

"DUMPING " STILL REFUSED

At the 7.45 a.m. call for labour on the waterfront to-day, though there were a great number of men about the stands, none would accept work on the Home liner concerning which there has been trouble in regard .to "dumping," the stipulation being made that " dumping ". should proceed. Consequently, labour for other boats was not engaged, with the exception of the Lyttelton-Wel-lington ferry steamer Maori. Only the boats which were working yesterday and tho ferry steamer are to-day being discharged or loaded. The vessels affected by this movement are mainly units of the smaller coastal fleet.

• At 1 o'clock the men were again asked if they would undertake dumping on the Home liner, but none would accept.
