GERMANY PAVES THE WAY
TO MOttE UNSPEAKABLE
CRIMES,
BRITAIN WILL IMMEDIATELY
TAKE REPRISALS.

LONDON, 31st January. The Foreign Office states that the German Government claims to have conclusive proof that "enemy hospital ships have been misused for the transport of munitions and. troops,',' and also claims to have, submitted proofs to the French. and British Governments., '.(.'he enemy at the samß time declarns that "traffic
by hospital ships within three lines drawn from Flamborough ■ Head (English East Coast), to Terschelliiig (Holland), and from •Ushant (Prance) to Land's End, will no longer be tolerated."
His Majesty's Government has not received this communication. It denies the allegation, and states: "Germany lias the right to search our hospital ships, which have never been used as stated. It is evide.ut that it is Germany's intention to' add other unspeakable crimes to -the long list which disgraces her record. His Majesty's Government has decided that if the above 'threat be carried out. reprisals. will immediately be taken."
