GERMAN FLEET BOTTLED UP
BRITISH MINEFIELDS IN NORTH SEA
HELIGOLAND BIGHT PRACTICALLY COVERED
(Received February 1, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, 31st January. Details of tho new British- minefield, which were first published in New iYork, show that practically the entire mouth of the Heligoland Bight is cover-, ed, and the German fleet is bottled up. The enclosed area far exceeds anything hitherto attempted. The minefield extends some distance northwards from the northernmost point of German territorial waters, thence westward to forty miles from Hull, and eastward to the mouth of the Ems.
