Since yesterday cloudiness has increased. In the northern portion of the North Island easterly gales are still reported—the result of a sub-tropical depression which has been in evidence for the past four days. Northerly and easterly breezes have predominated. The forecast is for cloudy and overcast conditions with raiir" in many, parts of the country, and the weather will become cooler generally.
Easterly winds merging into gales'are probable northward of Kawhia. and East Cape, with moderate to strong easterlies veering to the south-east, and increasing soon, elsewhere.
