OTTO OF BAVARIA

DEATH OF THE " MAD KING."

(KEUTER'S TEISGBAM.) (Received October 13, 12.30 p.m.)

COPENHAGEN, 12th, October

Otto, the mad King of Bavaria, is dead.

["The mad King Ootto" was the cousin of the present King Ludwig (Louis) 111., and was deposed about three years ago by the general desire of tho Bavarian Government, press, and people, being succeeded by his regent on sth November, 1913. He was tho son of tho late King Maximilian 11., and succeeded his brother to the throne in June, 1886, but' as ho had been mad since 1873, he never actually reigned. His brother vacated the throno for him by committing suicide, being almost as mad as Otto. The late King-'s physical health was good, and he was a strong man for his years. The more disease took possession of his brain, the more it seemed to avoid his body. Not long ago it was expected that lie would oiit-j live his cousin, Ludwig, who himself is 67 years old. The next Bavarian heir is Ludwig's son, Rupprecht, who was hsm in 1869, and is married to a Duchess of Bavaria. Riipprecht's father and grandfather are both, noted for their physical and mental soundness- Rupprecht is, of course, in tho field as an army commander.]
