A COMPREHENSIVE CENSUS
If people only read carefully the instructions given on tho Census schedules the work should proceed withont a, hitch. The officials, have completed the distribution, and it now remains for householders to do their part. There are many interesting details, on which information is required. There is to be a census of libraries, with particulars of the class of books they contain and how they are supported. Figures as to poultry, bees, and cattle in the boroughs are also sought. In the counties stock statistics axe compiled eacli year by the Agricultural Department. The question, lias been raised whether a person leaving Wellington by the Sunday night express for Auckland should be included in a schedule at Wellington or Auckland. The position is that schedules will be token from passengers on trains' and steamers, but where this is not done the particulars should be given at the place at which the traveller arrives on Monday morning. ,
