SENSATION AT TERRACE GAOL

PRISONERS ATTACK A WARDER,

As a result of a sensational happening at the Terrace Gaol last Saturday, four men who are at present undergoing sentence of imprisonment there will in due course be brought up in the Magistrate's Court-. It is stated that the men made a concerted attack on one of the warders in the gaol, and handled him roughly enough to render him incapable of any resistance. Then, it is stated, the men possessed themselves of the warder's keys, and succeeded in making .their way. through two or three doors, which barred the way to the outer world. Another warder, however, arrived on the scene in time to give the alarm before the men had quite broken out of their confinement, and they were speedily overpowered and returned to their cells.
