CARE OF CERTIFICATES

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —I would like to take up say £50 in the War Loan. As a small investor this is my_ difficulty. The certificate I receive being payable to bearer is negotiable and actually represents cash the same as a bank note does. lam therefore practically compelled to keep £50 cash in the house, which is a very unwise thing to do, and of course under ordinary circumstances I should not think of doing so. If a burglar broke in he could make away with my certificate, and in five years' 'time the money is Ms. If a fire broke out I again stand to lose £50. - This difficulty could be overcome by the Government offering the use of a compartment in. one of their safes to keep the certificates in, as the whole lot with an elastic band round them would take very little room. They could be signed on Ute back and kept in alphabetical order and be out of the way 'till wanted—a receipt being issued to each depositor.—l am, etc., LOAN SUBSCRIBER, 15th August.
