LODGE MEETINGS
At the last fortnightly meeting of the Excelsior Lodge of Druids a very large number of members and visitors from the -different lodges—viz., Melrose, Pride of Brooklyn, Pacific,: Petone—were present. The auditors' report and the bal-ance-sheet were adopted, as. well as the officers' report,, which was printed in accordance with last meeting's order. A highly satisfactory state of affairs vyas disclosed for the past six months. Sick pay amounting to £23 4s and accounts of £238 11s 9d.were passed for payment. A vote of condolence to the family.of the late Brb. l James Barber, who was killed 'in action in France, was passed. Bro. Barber is the fourth member of the lodge who has given his life for tho ■ Empire. An added. interest was given by tho visit of the officers of the Loyal Newtown Lodge of Oddfellows for the purpose of presenting the "500" Shield to the Excelsior Lodge, who won it with a totaJ of seven out. of a. possible fourteen. Bro. ,-Wylie, in making the _ presentation", ex.pressed much pleasure in so doing, as he stated that the Excelsior team wore genuine sports, and well deserved their success. A most enjoyable social, evening was held afterwards.
