LONDON, 28th June.
The Daily Telegraph's Rome correspondent says that the Austrians deserve credit in one respect—the rapidity of the retreat.
The Austrian offensive collapsed suddenly. The Austrians during the retreat left every village in ashes, every cottage a smoking ruin.
King Emmanuel was one of the first to set foot in the reconquered town of Asiago. Pointing his sword to the unconquered heights, he addressed each passing battalion: "Go! Avenge your countrymen!"
