MILITARY POSTAL RATES

FOR LETTERS AND PARCELS.

A number of correspondents have written to us asking for information as to the correct scale of postage on letters and parcels for members of the Expeditionary Force on active service. The rates for New Zealand soldiers in Egypt, France, and England are as follow : —Letters and letter-cards, Id per oz or fraction; post-cards, Id each; commercial papers, 2£d for first 10oz and id for each succeeding 2oz br fraction : books and printed papers, _d for each 2oz or fraction; pattern and sample packets, Id for the first 4oz or fraction, and gd for each succeeding 2oz or fraction ; magazines, id for each 2oz or fraction : newspapers. Id each; parcels (via Suez)j not exceeding 31b, Is l£d; above 31b and up to 71b, 2s 7id; above 71b and up to 111b, 4s l£d.

For men in camp in New Zealand the rates are the same as for ordinary inland correspondence, with the exception that they are exclusive of the war tax. These ordinary inland rates are: For" letters. Id for the first 4oz, and Ad for each succeeding 2oz,- for parcels, 3d for the first lib, l£d for each succeeding lb up to 131b, and Id for each additional lb up to 281b:'
