CHURCH UNION IN CANADA
PRESBYTERIANS. METHODISTS, AND CO.NGREGATIONALISTS.-
OTTAWA, 16th June. The Presbyterian Assembly of Canada, by 406 to 88, decided to enter into an organic union of Methodists and'Congregationalists. ■ Dr. Clark (Montreal) declared that Presbyterianism stood to lose little or nothing. It would be a, valued change,'and a welcome sign to the entire religious world, and would be especially welcomed by foreign missionaries. Dr. M'Kinnon (Regina) said that the change was the only solution of the many moral, social, and religious problems of the age—the result of a, partial paralysis arising from the need of men and money. Dr. Cameron, a widely-esteemed veteran, who recorded with 45 . ministers and 93 elders in their dissent, deulared that henceforth i they must regard themselves' as the true Presbyterian • General Assembly. Under protest,, they proposed to continue a's usual.
