MOTHER GOOSE PANTOMIME.

There is certainly a deal more than the usual interest attached to the appearance of the J. C. Williamson " Mother Goose " pantomime on Wednesday next at the Grand Opera House. The dramatic critic of the Melbourne Argus writes of the pantomime as follows: " Pantomime, revue, burlesque, call it what you will, ' Mother Goose ' is an unqualified great undertaking, that has been in preparation for the best part of a year, and will give employment and enjoyment to thousands for a year to come. In a pantomime it is the musical numbers, ballets, specialties, choruses, and scenery that count, and as there are sixty of these packed into three hours, even dramatic gluttons should be satisfied. The ballets are all very beautiful, with jjerhaps a leaning towards the- exceedingly quaint. Mr., Coleman and his assistants have painted some charming scenes, two especially being a delight to look upon—the Wishing Gate and the Magic Pool. A weird effect is caused in the darkened theatre by a little girl floating through it and taking up the chorus of Miss de Venny's song, and a-nother is the map of Australia with chorus heads peeping through the cities and helping the solo singer. A turn .'that caused a good deal of ' shuddering ' was that of Ross and Falls, whose specially hazardous table balancing caused a pitch of nervous excitement not often witnessed in a theatre. As to the principals, six of whom have been imported from London, they are all good and quite in keeping with the general all-round excellence of a lavish and astonishing entertainment." The box plans for the nine nights' season and the- two matinees are now open at The Bristol.
