MAGISTRATE'S COURT

At the Magistrate's Court to-day. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., dealt with five first offenders ' for drunkenness in the usual way. Elizabeth Williams, alias Beatty, for having been found helplessly drunk, was ordered to pay medical expenses, 17s 6d, or in default undergo forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Annie Smith, alias Summersby, was fined 20s and costs, or in default t-Hree days' imprisonment for insobriety. A line of £3 was imposed on John Coyle for drunkenness. Andrew John Davidson was convicted of a similar offence, and vrua crdered to come up for sentence when called upon—a prohibition order to be issued against him. Percival Green, who was £65 in arrear on a maintenance order, was sentenced to one months' imprisonment—warrant to be suspended ho long as 15s per week is paid. The arrears were reduced to £20. James Morton Davidson, who was £18 in arrear in support of his wife, had the arrears reduced from £18 to £11, and was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment, the order to be suspended so long as £1 2s 6d is paid.
