LIQUOR LAWS
CHARGE AGAINST LICENSEE.
At the Magistrate's' Court to-day, Frederick Hilton, licensee of the National Hotel, was charged with having on 26th December sold : liquor to Henry Morris, while the latter wae in an intoxicated condition. He was also charged with permitting drunkenness on his premises. . Inspector i Hendrey: conducted the case for the police, and Mr. T.-M. Wiifortl for defendant.
Sergeant Orton Wade stated that on the date specified'he visited the National Hotel, and in the private bar, Which was lighted up, he found Mr. Hilton behind the counter. There were four men in front of the bar. ;! Mr. Hilton said that the bar was open to boarders only. - There were five glasses of liquor on the' counter. Witness entered by the fire escape. Later Morris was arrested in the street for drunkenness. : . '
