"INVINCIBLE ON THE BATTLEFIELD "
PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS TO THE REICHSTAG.
PROUD ENGLAND IS TROUBLED
AMSTERDAM, J.st December. The Reichstag has opened. The President, in his address, said : " The enemy Ins failed to break through in the west". The Austrimis hold the eastern positions in an iron grip, while our feats of arms in the Balkans have carried us through with splendid and unsurpassed surencss. enabling us to avenge Serajevo and Ser-via-'s intrigues. Assisted by Bulgaria, we have crowned our \ictory, and the Servian army has been absolutely defeated. The Turks have upheld their old reputation, the result being the failure of the enemy's Dardanelles enterprise. Proud England is troubled about the key to her Eastern supremacy. "All our enemies have recognised that we are invincible on the battlefield, and they therefore eagerly cling to the'hope that they can destroy us economically and conquer us by hunger. We have corn and potatoes "in. abundance. There is, maybe, some scarcity in other things, yet the hardships which have been caused to the majority of the poorer population will be surmounted by our organisation of the provision market. We have financially and economically every reason to contemplate the future with determination and unshaken confidence."
