HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the Hntt County Council was held to-day. Present — Councillors W. J. Howell (chairman), J. Wakeham, W. Galloway, Thomas Edwards, J. Whiteman, and M. W. Welch. It was reported that the overdraft stood at £5304 I3s sd. The Inspector of Works (Mr. J. W. Cudby) submitted a report of the various road works which had been in progress during the month. The stone-crusher had been doing good work in the various ridings, and was now at Paekakariki. The Pukerua-Paekakariki road formation contract had been completed. The Railway Department requested to be informed where it was desired that warning boards should be erected at level crossings. The matter was left to the Inspector of Works, with power to act. The Wellington City Council wrote complaining of the amount of gorse on sections rear Williams P«rk, Day's Bay, and pointing out the danger from fire. The matter was referred to the Inspector for a report, and h. was algo decided to communicate with the Agricultural Department.
