METHODIST CHURCH
The quarterly meeting of the Wellington (Taranaki-street) Methodist Circuit was held last evening, Rev. J. G. Chapman presiding. The balance-sheet showed a credit, ,and left a satisfactory balance to general circuit account. There has been an increase of members, both senior and junior, reported, making a total membership of nearly 600 in the circuit. Aro-street Mission affairs, both financially and spiritually, were well reported on, and Sister May and her associates were thanked for theii* services. Measures were adopted for augmenting the funds for home and foreign missions throughout the circuit. It was decided to institute a Temperance Sunday once in each quarter, .when speciallyselected persons will give addresses to the Sunday School scholars on matters relating to that subject. Messrs. W. E. Redstone and F. Chinchen were elected to represent the circuit at the Synod to be held next month. Messrs. J. Kellow and W. Hemery were unanimously appointed auditors for circuit accounts for the ensuing year. Other matters were attended to, the many activities of the church were working well, and the circuit is in a satisfactory condition.
