RIFLE PERISCOPE

♦ ■ "USEFUL ADJUNCT TO MEN'S EQUIPMENT." The rifle periscope invented by Major H. Marshall, officer commanding the Rifle Clubs' Reserve Corps, has a}ready won. the appreciation of many military men and rifle shots, who pronounce it as being eminently practicable. On Saturday last Major Marshall presented ten periscopes to the Ist and 2nd Battalions, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, which have been placed on active service. In reply, he received the following letter from Captain Bell, Brigade Major, Staff Officer to Lieut.-Col. Fulton, officer commanding : — "I am directed by the O.C. to thank you for your g.ift of ten periscope sights. As well as being a most useful adjunct to the men's equipment, these sights will prove the means of most_ interesting instruction to the men during the voyage. I hope to be able to report regarding the usefulness on active service of your invention."
