EIGHT-HOUR DAY DEMONSTRATION

WORKERS' PART' IN THE WAR. SYDNEY, 4th October. Favoured with fine weather, the annual eight-hour demonstration, was held. Both in the numbers participating and in the emblematic designs it was one of the finest demonstrations yet witnessed. Intermingled with the usual allegorical trade displays were many bearing on the war, and representing the part the workers are playing therein. A feature was the large number. of uniformed soldiers marching with the respective unions, besides a strong" company of the expeditionary force, speciaally detailed to participate. The procession was two miles in length, and there were great crowds lining the routes to the sports ground, who gavethe- soldiers a splendid reception.
