EXTENT OF DAMAGE NOT KNOWN. (Receiyed October 5, noon.) HOBART,This Day. "Upon 'the arrival of the Wimmera, it was reported that when off Curtis Island on Sunday' a fire was discovered in No. 4 hold. The fire was subdued after an hour. The damage to the cargo' is believed to be slight, but the precise extent will not be known until she discharges in New Zealand. The Wimmera has sailed for New Zealand. The Wimmera, from Melbourne, continued her voyage from Hobart at 1 p.m. yesterday, and, according to advice received at the local office of the HuddartParker Company, is bringing 45 passengers and 522 tons of cargo to land at Wellington. With favourable weather conditions she should arrive here on Friday afternoon. No advice has been received as to the nature of the cargo in No. 4 hold.
