SUBMARINES IN THE BALTIC
ADMIRALTY UNABLE TO GIVE INFORMATION. (Received October 1. 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, 30th September. Asked for details of submarines in the Baltic torpedoing the German battlecruiser Moltke, Mr. Balfour (First Lord of the Admiralty), in the House of Commons, replied that he was unable to give any information except that contained in the Russian reports. British submarines had done good work in the Baltic. They were not an independent force, but were acting under the Russian Admiralty.
