WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. . The following cablegram has been sent :to the head office, London: — "We are 'crushing 425 tons per 24 hours. The actual extraction is 32s per ton. No. 1 Main Shaft. — The electric haulage compartment has been completed to 1285 ft." THE ASSAULT-AT-ARMS The Reserves Committee of the City Council reported to the council last night that it had forwarded an account for £20 8s 4d to the New Zealand Patriotic Society (Wellington Branch), being the actual cost of repairing the damage caused to the Newtown Park by the society's Assault-at-Arms held on the 4th September. The society guaranteed repairs up to the sum of £20. — The report was adopted, GIFTS TO ZOO The following donors of gifts to the Zoo have been thanked for their presentations : — Mr. FogEa, Vivian-street, one pair of Persian kittens; New Zealand Government, a number of Quinnat salmon fry.
