GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN
ACTIVITY OF AIRCRAFT, MINOR TURKISH ATTACKS. LONDON, 28th September. The War Office reports that recent operations at Gallipoli were mainly confined by both sides to aircraft attacks, artillery bombardments, and some mining. The Turks- on one occasion mdalfed in heavy artillery fire on the Suvla and Anzac fronts, apparently as a prelude, to a general attack. An attack with only a small force followed upon the right centre of Suvla. Our rifle fire easily dispersed the enemy. The same thing happened twice bubsequently. Enemy aeroplanes more than once attacked our aircraft base, and dropped bombs, without causing damage. l We counter-attacked. Our bombs blotted out a. hangar, and damaged the shipping at Buvgaz. TJae Turk* on the night of the 24th
I let loose watch-dogs against the French patrol dogs. All -were shot.
