The Crop outlook throughout the Commonwealth, . excepting the greater part of Queensland, where the rain was below normal, was very favourable. It was estimated that the area under wheat is in the vicinity of 13,500,000 acres, and with favourable weather there should be a, record crop. MOUNT LYELL RETURNS (Received August 13, 9.40 a.m.) ' MELBOURNE, This Day. The Mount Lyell returns for Bth July to 4th August inclusive show that 27,356 tons of ore treated by the converters pro duced 613 tons copper, 31,398 ounces of silver, and 787 ounces of gold. The wheat harvest is officially estimated at 60,000,000 bushels, double that of last year. The Government has placed an order abroad for twenty locomotives, to cost £100,000, to help cope with the grain traffic.
