THE AMMUNITION QUESTION. "As far as I can gather," said the Hon. James Allen to a Post reporter to-day, speaking on the ammunition question, "the British authorities require three classes of things : Ammunition for the guns, quickfirers and howitzers, and transport material, such as wagons and ambulance cars." The best advice the Minister had received pointed to the fact that it was practically impossible for us to do much in regard to the manufacture of shell. It might be possible for us to manufacture some guns, but then we would require plant and probably experts. But we could manufacture transport material.
