LOSS OF LEMBERG
RUSSIAN REPORT OF THE EVENT DECIDED BY ENEMY'S ADVANCE TO ZOLKIEF (By TeUgraph, — Press Association.— Copyright.) PETROGEAD, 24th June. An official commnnique states : "During Monday and Monday night we Resisted the enemy's offensive in the direction of Lemherg by stubborn fighting. s?he enemy suffered great losses, but advanced near Zolkief (north of Lemberg). ■Consequently vee quitted Lemberg on Tuesday and continued our retreat to- a new front. ,We took 1000 prisoners near 4he village of Unich, on the Dniester. Our c*valry sajbred three companies west of Eawa-Ruska." The High Commissioner reports :— LONDON, 24th Jun*, 5.50 a-m. BstMgrad official. — In consequence of the enemy's advance in the Zolkief region, the Knssians evacuated Lemberg on Tuesday, continuing their retreat to the new front. AN ITALIAN REPORT. ROME, 24th June. A telegram from Przemysl states that the Eussians attacked in great force north-east pf Lemberg against the German left flank, thereby stopping the German advance north of Lemberg. It is reported from Czernowitz that Austrian reinforcements continue to arrive north of Kolomea and Stanislau, where the Bussians have assumed the offensive, threatening the right flank of the Austro-Germans marching on the province of Volhynia. i
