AIR RAID IN GERMANY
* THE ATTACK ON EXPLOSIVE FACTORIES ONE FRENCH AEROPLANE LOST (Received May 29, 8.40 a.m.) PARIS, 28th May. The airmen droppe^d forty-nine projectiles on the Ludwigshafen explosive factory, and thirty-six on a factory at Oppau, a mile and three-quarters away. There were enormous fires, and yellow smoke was seen in great masses, which enshrouded Ludwigshafen and Oppau. All the aeroplanes returned except one, which apparently was hit, and descended normally. The machine burst into flames^ and it is believed the occupants burnt it to prevent the Germans securing it. (Received May 29, 10 a.m.)" PARIS, 28th May. Ludwigshafen is one of the largest manufactories of chlorine. The workers were recently increased from ten thousand to twenty thousand, for filling cylinders.
