COLLEGE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
A meeting ,of the Boaid of Governors of Wellington College was held yesterday, there being present the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken (chairman), and Messrs. A. Warburton, W. Allan, and W. F. Ward. The statement of accounts showed : — Balance at bank, £2492 6s 4d. Payments required : Wellington College, £594 19s 6d: Girls' College, £386 0s 4d ; total, £980 19s lOd ; grand total, £1511 16s 6d. Fees outstanding : Wellington College, £24 10s ; Girls' College (second term), £1388 19s 8d; arrears, £635 14s 9d ; total, £2024 14s sd ; grand total. £2049 4s sd. (The above include free place fees amounting to £1752 8s sd).' Rents outstanding, £512 6s sd. The accounts, as lequircd, were passed for payment. The chairman leported that Miss Lynch, of Whangaiei. had accepted the appointment of aisdstiint at the Girls' College.
The case against John Anderson, charged with having assaulted Cecil Robert Pavne so as to cause him actual bodily linrin, was concluded/in the Magistrate's Court to-day. After hearing medical evidence the charge was reduced by Mr. W. G. Riddell. W.M.. to one of rommon assault. Accordingly, it was dealt with summarily. ' 'After hearing Mr. IT. F. O'Leary I for the defence. Anderson was convicted and fined £4. the doctor's fee to be paid out of that amount. Costs totalled £2 7s 6d. The alternative was fixed at oho month in gaol.
