Much time was occupied in the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., in >the hearing of cases concerning ' the breach of various city by-laws. For allowing cattle to wander in various suburban areas, the following were dealt with : Paul Olsen (fined 20s, with costs), Richard John Tarr (fined 10s and 5s respectively on two charges, with costs 16s), Henry M'Grath, Harry Pearce, and Charles Stnith (each fined ss, with costs). William Dette was convicted of driving too fast across the intersection of Cuba and Vivian streets. He was fined ss, with costs 7s. • Richard Maudsley was fined ss, with costs 13s, for allowing his chimney to catch fire. Edward Barnes and Thomas Moody were fined 10s and 5s respectively for driving a motor-car without a tail-light. For leaving a car on a stand without seme competent person in charge, Alexander M'Neil Proctor was fined ss, with costs. Charles Kavanagh was fined 5s for riding a bicycle without a light. A plea of not guilty was entered by Walter Nash, charged with wilfully impeding the tram traffic on Lambton-quay. He was the driver of an express, and refused to get ont of the way of an approacliing car. He was convicted and fined 20s, with costs.
