SCHOOL COMMITTEES

<» Further reports of School Committee meetings and elections are to hand. Paekakariki. — The following committee was elected : — Messrs. S. W. Short (chairman). J. Lilley (secretary), 11. Hasse, S. Caskie, and A. Deans. Ohariu.— Messrs. S. Bryant (chairman and secretary), L. C. Bryant. V. Beech. W. L. Beech, and H. Thinford. The balance-sheet read at the meeting showed a credit balance of £16. A voice of indignant protest was raised against tho continued delay of the Education Board in making arrangements for the erection of a new school. The present building •has done service for forty years, and appears to have been erected at a time when the principal tools of the country carpenter were a crosscut saw and an a.xc. The incoming committee is pledged to use every endeavour to further x the rebuilding scheme. Taita. — The following committee "was elected .-—Messrs. F. Roichel (chairman), J. Stonehouse (secretary), Win. Harris, Wm. Kilmister, and F. Hewer., Kaiwarra. — There was a satisfactory attendance of householders at the Kaiwarra School <m Monday evening. The committee submitted a favourable roport, slating that the finances were in a good condition. The following committee was elected : — Messrs. C. Bowdun (chairman), E. Robson (secretary). W Lati' mer, A. L. Dixon, and G Flaws. Featherston.— -The following School Committee was elected from nine candidates : — Messrs. M. Ford, S. Murphy, F. E. Merlet, C. E. Skipagc, A. Stubbs. M. 11. Kendall, C. Elliott. Mr Ford was elected chairman of the new committee, Mr. Kendall secretary, and Mr. "Murphy treasurer. Normandale. — At- the Normandalo School the following committee was elected :— Messrs. J. J. Arnold. P. W. Barnes, A. Hanley, C. A. Fear, H J. Knight. Shannon.— The following were elected .-—Messrs. C. F. Exall. W. D. Galloway, R. Aim, A. Alerwood. Bowler, H. Hudson, E. Webb. Hillson, and J. Rich-ardec-n. Thc> annual report was of a Very satisfactory nature. The balancesheet showed a credit balance of £32 12s 3d, of which £24 2s 3d was for asphalting the playground.
