TOWN A HEAP OF RUINS TURKISH LOSSES CONSIDERABLE. (Received May 4, 3 p.m.) ATHENS, 3rd May. Mitylene reports that the British disembarkation continues at two points. All the forts protecting Maidos have been destroyed from the land. The Allies' advance guard has occupied Maidos, which is a heap of ruins through the Allies' fire. The Turkish losses are considerable. - Turkish troops are embarking at Constantinople to reinforce the troops at the Narrows. SELF-DEFENSIVE GUNS ON , LINERS * i (Received May 4, 3.10 p.m.) LONDON, 3rd May. The Royal Mail Shipping Company's report states that the immunity enjoyed by the company's ships is largely attributable to the self-defensive guns of the vessels.
